This image is my interpretation Klimt’s “The Kiss”. The image of two people engaged in a passionate kiss, where the world around them falls away and only feelings of being in love exist. This emotion transcends culture, race, and time. It is a passionate kiss.
The original wood cut 4’ by 8’ was hand carved for the Big Print Project, printed in the Sun Yat Sun Gardens in Vancouver BC, with a steam roller. I felt that this image would complement this project that brings together both Chinese and First Nations artists, and best tell the story of love between two people of two different cultures.
