“Seeking Balance”

This painting is a transformative piece. It tells a story of struggle and seeking balance in life.

The background is the colours of the medicine wheel, red, black, white and yellow. We are taught through the medicine wheel that we need to take care of all aspects of ourselves, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual. When these parts of ourselves are taken care of equally, when we are in balance, we can attain harmony within ourselves.

I often use florals and animals in my artwork to honour connection to nature, and celebrate the florals in Anishinaabe beadwork and regalia.
